Sedona, Arizona Travel & Visitors Guide

click here to check out the Frommers Guide to Sedona

At the heart of Arizona's Red Rock Country is the town of Sedona. Stretching along the sides of a fork in the highway (called the "Y"), the secret to this towns success is its spectacular setting. On every side, brilliant red rock formations tower over the skyline glowing brightly in the morning and afternoon light. The town is also a center for New Age hoohah with numerous spiritual claims being made to vortex concentrations in the area.  Grab you camera and a good pair of shoes and you can embark on a scenic adventure.

The top attractions are out of town taking the form of spa resorts, scenic drives, vortex hiking and explorations among the red rocks. Hikers and mountain bikers are well served with a good network of trails surrounding the town. 4x4 drivers have plenty to do too, with several great tracks radiating from the town.  Just South of Sedona is Red Rock State Park. Here sheltered from the noise of the highway is a valley with a babbling creek, woody glades, crisscrossing trails and, of course, lots and lots of red rocks.  About one hour north of Sedona you will find the Grand Canyon State Park, the most visited attraction in the state of Arizona.
